It is great to see so many in town getting around by bicycle; often faster and usually more fun. This time of year you often never have to get sweaty. Certain areas are much swifter on 2 wheels - Crossing the Damen/Elston intersection takes secs on bike but 15 min by car.
Short feature in the Sun-Times by a guy that regularly (year-round) gets Downtown from Glencoe by running. (fyi... ~20 miles) http://bit.ly/6PwgjK see 'One-man cheering section lifts spirits' photos in ink edition are much better. I'd guess nothing more than smart phone, wallet and hydration/nutrition. Hard with a 5 lb notebook pc.
